How to Get Your Provisional License

A provisional license is the natural evolution of an instruction permit. After you have obtained your provisional permit, practiced and passed your driving test, you will be granted a provisional license. The provisional license functions as a nearly full license, allowing the holder to drive alone. There are few exceptions, though. A person with a provisional license cannot drive between the hours of 11pm and 5am without a fully licensed occupant in the car, nor may they transport passengers under 20. These restrictions last until the driver has had their provisional license for a year or turns 18, whichever comes first. At this point, the restrictions are lifted and the provisional license become a full, unrestricted license. Drive at midnight with impunity!
